The Odyssey Project
Bio
The Odyssey Project was founded by Amelia Hands; an experienced educator, pathways advisor, and Head of Senior Secondary from the Gold Coast, Queensland.

With an education career spanning Independent Schools Queensland, Brisbane Catholic Education, and Education Queensland, Amelia brings a rare breadth of insight into system requirements and student needs. In today’s rapidly changing world of education, careers, and tertiary pathways, she recognised a growing challenge: students, parents, and even seasoned advisors were struggling to navigate the shifting landscape with clarity and confidence.
Determined to make a difference, she created The Odyssey Project — a platform designed specifically for navigating pathways. The goal? To provide clear, tailored advice across a range of industries, from subject selection and university prerequisites to vocational training and employment opportunities. The platform is continually evolving and will soon be available at pathwaysinqld.com.au, offering an ever-growing hub of accessible, relevant, and localised career guidance and resources.
As the foundation of The Odyssey Project took shape, Amelia’s partner, Dominic, a seasoned teacher with over 20 years of experience and roots in Tenterfield, NSW, began to contribute his own perspective. He saw an opportunity to support not just students, but also adults further along in their careers who may be feeling unfulfilled or ready for change. Dominic is currently developing a collection of publications aimed at empowering individuals from all walks of life to rethink their direction and rediscover purpose.
Whether you’re a student deciding between Visual Art or Physics, or someone two decades into a career and looking for something more, The Odyssey Project is here to help guide your next step, wherever you are on your journey.
